A short bus ride from Penang, the Mahayana Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple sits on a prominent hillside overlooking the town. The Temple seems more like a small town -- clinging to the hillside -- the stairs wind through shops and restaurants and the ever present beggars. It all seemed a bit surreal and the Buddhas and other statues look quite varied compared the the ones in Thailand and Laos. There was a very strong Chinese influence everywhere. A fun day.
