August -- whew! We needed to slow down and enjoy the backyard.
We returned from Seattle and 48 hours later Bryan and 3 friends went back packing in Desolation Wilderness. This is an area that they have backpacked for (previously with scouts or parents) -- so while it was familiar, it was also their first time out on their own. There trip too was plagued by mosquitos -- we had a late, wet spring and the bugs have been relishing their long season.
Aaron, Sky, Bryan and Mikeo at the trail head. At some point on the trip they would cross two passes in one day...hard hiking just to find a legal campsite. There was also a sow and her cub but the light was too poor for a picture.
I also spent some time riding my bike on the road. I have a favorite short run out and back to China Camp State Park. I also did enough riding and was able to join Alan for a Sunday run to Pt Reyes Station for the Box Show at Gallery Route One. We figure that was 40+ miles and it sure felt like that on White's Hill on the return trip!
Anniversary #19. Thai food. YUM.
Mostly August has been about lists and shopping for Magic. We have new anchors, new laptops, a new sink, new laminate for counter tops, new canvas for shade awnings, new new new..... Oh boats!
