Riding the Row River Trail

We left California and our first stop was the Oregon Visitor Information Center in Brookings.  Despite hearing that Brookings was in the banana belt of the Oregon Coast -- the day was gray.  But we found a brochure for bike trails in Oregon, including a rails to trail bike path near Cottage Grove, Oregon.

We spent the night in a National Forest campground near Florence on the coast (buggy & lots of highway noise) and left early for Eugene.  A bit of shopping and then on to Cottage Grove and the nearby Darena Reservoir.  This area has many covered bridges -- not to keep the snow off -- but to help prolong the life of the wooden deck surface.  The campground was emptying out as most folks were just weekend warriors so we picked a large site tucked into the woods.  And rode our bikes!   Such fun!

Lovely trail, wildflowers, hills, and a bit of blue sky
