Summer in Seattle

A sunny July4th!

Yesterday we had more typical Seattle conditions:  cool, gray, and windy.  But that is no reason to slow down.  David took us to the Ballard Farmer's Market--it seems the fruits were about a month behind the SF Bay Area.  Their cherries were just coming in; ours were the end of the season by late June.  So we are having another round of cherry mania.

In the afternoon, Alan and I went to visit Ron and Jane at their house "under construction" near Green Lake.  This has been a dream and work in progress for many years.  Ron is doing most of the construction himself so there is incredible attention to detail and thoughtful planning for the future.  They are the previous owners of Magic -- so we had many stories to share.

On the site!

Ron and Jane.

We enjoyed a family dinner with David and Monica.  Bryan got a baking lesson from Monica and produced first class Chocolate Sinkholes.  The sinkholes were for Alan's upcoming birthday -- he didin't want us to sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY and he is hoping for the next baking lesson project!  Those sinkholes were incredible.

Where do I start?

Stirring -- but not too much stirring

Out of the oven and out of the water bath

Ready to serve -- OH MY
