We are still tied to the docks...while we make good progress on putting things back together, it is always slower than one might imagine! But the signs of the Holiday Season are appearing around town.
We helped work a fund raiser for Subasta -- a local organization that raises funds to support poor children with warm school meals and tuition fees. We were assigned to the "silent auction" -- a combination of local donations (marina fees, meals, jewelry, etc) and cruisers off-loads (bread makers, pasta makers, decorations, etc.) Attendance was good with a mix of both Mexican and cruisers -- I gather alot of money was made.
The local Rotary Club here supports a Secret Santa program at a village primary school. The kids all write a short letter and make a request for a holiday present. We participated and for Blanca Nieves Amador Mendez we sought out a pair of cowboy boots. It took me awhile to realize that Snow White wanted cowboy boots! But we found a pair at the local mercado -- and we hope she will enjoy them through out the next year.
