Maybe This is Global Warming

OK, so we painted a rosy picture of winter in Mexico. Now is the pay back time. The north wind is howling continually -- in excess of 20 kts and often into 30 kt range in the afternoons & night. The rig is whistling and shuddering. Our new wind instrument is reading air in the 40's today! The swell is wrapping around the point and we wallow and roll. Not like our mono hull brethren, but we haven't known calm for days.

Every morning we faithfully tune into the Sonrisa (ham) Net to get the 3 day weather forecast for the Sea of Cortez, Mexican Riviera, and the outside "in full color". I furiously scribble the wind speed numbers...big numbers, alas. The forecast color has been the same for a week; in fact this is the longest stretch of continuous days (7) with winds in excess of 20 kts in more than 10 years. Could this be global blowing, er, I mean global warming?

Earlier this week the National Geographic Explorer Cruise Ship had to hole up across the channel for two nights; when the big boats tuck into hide you know it ain't pretty.

We hope tomorrow calms enough to get ashore for a hike or beach walk. These winds should be laying down and then we figure to scoot north a few miles for a new view, perhaps on Monday.
