Hello Cambodia

Follow the Mekong River to Cambodia?  It sounded like an adventure....so that was my plan.  And on a warm and sultry day I got on a fast ferry (for tourists only) and spent the day headed up the mighty Mekong.  After the border crossing (only a $5US extra to keep things moving), there was rural Cambodia.

Wooden fishing vessels, water buffaloes, ram shackle houses on the river bluff.  An occasional fancy house or temple.  A few container ships.  Every now and then an amazing bridge or other construction project.  Mostly it was green and lush and lacking in vibrancy.  Sort of the sultry feeling of heat and sun and waiting.

By day's end -- there was Phnom Pehn -- a hazy city.  Lots of construction going on.  We disembarked and there was a tuk-tuk driver from the hostel!  Never mind we were 2+ hours late -- he knew the boat would eventually arrive.  That was sweet!  So a quick drive through crowded streets to my hostel.  Ah.....

The heart and soul of Cambodia -- The Mekong River and the Tonle Sep Lake/River.
I will stay in PP for a few days; bus to Battambang and boat to Siam Reep (Ankor Wat)

That is a fish net -- seen all along the river's edge.
